The CMT Music Awards is annual awards show that airs live on Country Music Television (CMT).
The CMT Music Awards 2022 has been spot on when it comes to finding the best new music and the best entertainers of the year. CMT Music Awards is one of Canada’s premier entertainment awards, and it’s always a big celebration every year. It’s always a great honor to be nominated, so you can imagine that they must feel incredibly honored to be performing at the CMT music awards. As one of Canada’s most popular awards show, the CMT Music Awards is an event you can’t miss.
The awards honor country music artists for the previous year and premiered in 2002. There are several contests during the ceremony for Country Music Entertainer of the Year, Musical Event of the Year, Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Single Record of the Year and New Artist of the Year. Each award is based on sales data by Nielsen SoundScan and radio information by Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems, both gathered from retailers.
The CMT Awards are regarded to be the most prestigious and glittering ones. The ceremony was first held in 1966 at the Caribe Hilton Hotel. Initially, it was not known that a different award ceremony would win such high acclaim as has been achieved by CMT from the year 1990. From then on this event took place every year under the leadership of Dick Clark who remained its host till the year 1993 and again from 2001 until 2012. In 2018 Dick’s son took over his father’s post as he was unable to continue due to ill health.

CMT Music Awards 2022 Nominees and Winners:
The CMT Awards 2022 went ahead without a hitch. Due to a positive COVID test, co-host Kelsea Ballerini had to perform her duties via satellite. Kane Brown and Anthony Mackie, a.k.a. Captain America, joined her at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium. Keith Urban’s performance of “Wild Hearts” started off the y’all-ified version of the VMAs. Carrie Underwood, who shared the 10th Video of the Year award with Jason Aldean, stole a page from Pink’s book and performed “Ghost Story” in aerial silks. Underwood has won more CMT awards than any other artist, with a total of 25. Despite having COVID in her system, Ballerini was able to perform “Heartfirst”.
