The Coolest Laptops We Saw At CES 2022
News Times Link: Originally scheduled to be a face-to-face event, CES 2022 had to make a last-minute transition to accommodate the rapidly changing Omicron environment. Many of this year’s announcements are based on digitally summarized specifications, with many big names like Meta, Google and Amazon leaving. With this in mind, Intel and AMD are announcing their latest processors, giving the latest laptop manufacturers more performance and flexibility. Here are the most interesting ones.
ASUS Rog Zephyrus Duo 16
The Zephyrus Duo 16 opens up new possibilities for multitasking with an additional touch display located above the keyboard. This is perfect for streamers who can play games on the main screen with OBS and chat right below it. No need to worry about accidentally tapping the screen thanks to the great touch screen functionality.
This time, the company introduced a four-way hinge that lifts and slides back to enable near-bezel-free interaction between the two screens. Under the hood, the laptop is powered by a Ryzen 9 6980HX processor, RTX 3080Ti, and an upgraded liquid metal cooler that lowers temperatures by up to 15 degrees compared to standard thermal paste.
Razer Blade series
Now everyone knows what to expect from the Razer, an ultra-thin steel-like exterior that mimics the David Fincher movie and is crammed with top-notch hardware. The Razer Blade 14 is equipped with a next-generation AMD Ryzen 6000 chip that can handle the most demanding AAA programs and games while saving incredible battery life.
The Blade 15 and 17 feature 12th Gen Intel Core processors that add a few inches to the screen and offer up to 14 cores. All three models feature NVIDIA RTX 30 series graphics cards and 16GB of DDR5 RAM. The memory is overclocked to 4800 MHz, making it almost 50% faster than its predecessor. A 1080p camera is also included, and later model displays have a refresh rate of 144Hz.
Dell XPS 13 Plus
The XPS 13 Plus is a premium option with a minimalist and stylish look. The physical function keys have now been replaced by touch-controlled stripes, but you get a similar edge-to-edge display and sleek keyboard. It has no trackpad and relies on a smooth glass touchpad that provides haptic feedback when touched.
Alienware m17
Combining a 17-inch display with AMD and AMD processors, the Alienware m17 is designed for those who value extreme gaming performance. The new AMD Ryzen 9 chipset utilizes a new power-saving architecture that can increase gaming time even under heavy workloads.
Lenovo ThinkPad Z series
The new ThinkPad Z series is light, thin and environmentally friendly. They have a gray or black body made from recycled aluminum and another body with black “vegan leather” on the lid. The Z13 and Z16 feature large 16:10 aspect ratio OLED displays and are powered by the latest Ryzen Pro processors.
ASUS Rog Flow Z13
A cousin to last year’s Flow X13, this detachable device feels more like a tablet than a computer, but is crammed with high-end hardware. Underneath the ultra-slim chassis is an Intel Core i912900H processor and RTX 3050Ti laptop GPU, which provides ample gaming performance.
Overheating isn’t a big deal here, as all components are packed inside the screen. So when you plug in a keyboard and use it as a laptop, it can draw in cold air from the back. During playback, the Flow Z13 can be controlled using the touch screen, mouse or controller. It also comes with two 16:10 display options: 4K 60Hz and FullHD 120Hz, both with AdaptiveSync support for fast response.
