Jennifer Lopez received an award at the MTV Movie & TV Awards

NTL: Jennifer Lopez gave an emotional statement at the MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday, accepting a career achievement award, discussing how believers and doubters contributed to her success.

Lopez, who won this year’s Generation Award for actors whose diverse contributions have made them household names, said, “I want to thank the people who gave me joy and the ones who wounded my heart — the ones who were truthful and the ones who lied to me.” She also won best song for the single “On My Way” from the “Marry Me” soundtrack, which is a new category.

With 26 categories in gender-neutral categories including best villain, greatest kiss, and the new category “here for the hookup,” MTV’s youth-focused celebration of cinema and television provided a lighter, breezier awards event. After several years of being pre-recorded, the ceremony was returned to a live version, hosted by Vanessa Hudgens.
At the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, Lopez shed tears as she thanked fans, her longtime manager, and her children for “teaching me to love,” bringing the audience to their feet.

“”I want to express my gratitude to the people who have given me this life,” Lopez, 52, said, later adding, “You are only as good as the people you work with.” However, if you’re lucky, they can help you improve. In that way, I’ve been quite fortunate.”

Lopez’s first break came as a dancer on the sketch comedy show “In Living Color” in the 1990s. She pursued acting and obtained a prominent role in the 1997 film “Selena.” She went on to star in films including “Anaconda,” “Out of Sight,” “The Wedding Planner,” “Hustlers,” and “Marry Me,” among others.

Lopez has had a lot of success as a singer, with a lot of successful songs and albums on the pop and Latin charts. With songs like “If You Had My Love,” “All I Have,” and remixes of “I’m Real” and “Ain’t It Funny,” she topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her multi-hit debut “On the 6” in 1999.

Lopez will also sing alongside Shakira during the Super Bowl halftime show in 2020.

Spider-Man: No Way Home” was the most nominated film, with seven nominations. It was named best film, while its star, Tom Holland, was named best actor in a film. With about $1.9 billion in box office receipts, it was the year’s biggest film and a fan favourite, yet it was virtually disregarded by the major awards shows.

Zendaya took home the award for best performance in a show for her work in “Euphoria,” which also took home the award for best show. The HBO series also took up the award for best hookup.

Olivia Rodrigo, a 19-year-old musician, won best music documentary for her project “Olivia Rodrigo: driving home 2 u” early in the show. Rodrigo, who won three Grammys this year, including best new artist, discussed the significance of the awards.
